Skincare Products For Oily Skin Types

Traditional skincare products contain a variety of harmful ingredients including parabens, phthalates, triclosan, alcohols, fragrances, mineral oils, and many more. Many ingredients used in conventional skincare products (powders, face washes, moisturizers, lotions, etc.) have also been associated with many health problems including cancer, allergic reactions, hormone disruption, and birth defects.

A recent study by Dr. David R. Larson, M.D., found that nearly 80% of the ingredients listed on the manufacturer’s label for their face wash, body lotion, makeup, shaving cream, and other skincare products had been tested on animals. The products were tested for effects such as birth defects, chronic irritation, and cancer, but the ingredient list is so extensive it is shocking. The list includes everything from anesthetic agents to anesthetic fumes.

What’s even more shocking is that the most commonly used fragrance in cosmetics products, Eucalyptus, has been banned in many countries due to the risk of being carcinogenic The chemical compound has been found to be carcinogenic in lab testing. Not only does it stink but it is also considered extremely toxic when ingested or absorbed through the skin. That’s why Eucalyptus is usually found as a repellent in repelling cleaning fluids and insecticides.

Another common ingredient found in skincare products is petrolatum. It is water-resistant and light, but when heated it turns opaque and greasy. This is the key reason that regular soap can make your skin look old quickly. Petrolatum interferes with the natural rejuvenation process of the skin by clogging the pores. This means that the pores are less susceptible to bacteria, which leads to pimples and blackheads.

What’s more alarming than these frightening ingredients is the fact that many skincare products actually contain alcohols, dyes, and preservatives. Alcohols are drying; dyes are cancer causing; and preservatives are bad for your health. You need to be especially careful when you choose creams, lotions, or facial masks. They usually contain alcohols, which strip the natural oils away. As a result, your skin produces more oil to moisturize, making your face even drier than before.

The truth is that you need to be especially careful about the ingredients that you choose to put on your face. Although most of them are safe, you still need to read the label carefully. If you see ingredients like alcohols, petroleum products, lanolin, mineral oils, parabens, and fragrances, you should avoid buying any skincare products that contain them. Even if they’re labeled as “oil-free”, don’t buy them if they’re not certified as allergy-free.
